Montana

Sometimes a girl needs a little change of scenery.

A new landscape to provide a little perspective.

'Course it doesn't hurt any when that landscape happens to be...
Big Sky, MONTANA!!!

Last week Jason and I spent four fabulous days visiting my Dad in Bozeman, MT.

Three of those days we spent skiing together up at Big Sky.
So. Much. Fun.

We realized this trip that almost thirty years ago-
a decade and a half before we would meet in Philadelphia-
Jason and I were both skiing at Keystone, CO for Spring break.
Maybe we even shared an unknowing lift ride up the mountain together!
(ok...pause for cheese alert.  I couldn't help it.)

Our last day skiing Jason and I stumbled upon a gathering of
Big Sky's "dirtbag skiers."
At 10,000 ft this group had built a fire pit,
were throwing back PBR (and other libations),
while dressed in Eighties' snow suits, pink tutus, and Elvis style blue suits.
We blended right in.

The craziest part began when about forty of these revelers
 began to hike-in their costumes-
where no ski lift could go...up a steep couloir
where they would ski down a steep powdery grade in pairs
trying to create the perfect figure eights.
It has been called
The Dirtbag Ball.

It was an amazing few days in the mountains.
Thanks to Terry & Cathy for keeping our girls happy and healthy at home.
Thanks to Dad for being a great host.
Thanks to Jason for doing just one more run...
